It's not usual for the USA to have football streamed on one of the mainstream channels. American football, basketball and baseball are still mantaining a high majority of sport-channels streaming time. Not today. America's most popular sport channel, ESPN TV, broadcasted a friendly game at prime time. Why? David Beckham's first game!

David Beckham Los Angeles Galaxy BenchThe crowd of 27,000 filled the stands, including Beckham's wife Victoria and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Many of the spectators we're first time visitors at a football game. A big dissappointment for the audience was the opening line-up without David Beckham (who is still battling with his injured ankle).

José Mourinho's team had an amazing night, as after 48 minutes Joe Cole's drive deflected to John Terry, who instinctively drove an unstoppable low effort in off Cannon's left hand post. For the majority of the game time the Englanders were simply dominating the field.

Even with Petr Cech, Didier Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko, Landon Donovan and other great players on the field – the crowd at Home Depot Center kept shouting "Beckham, Beckham" for almost 78 minutes of the game. Then the hero of the night finally stepped on the field. The people in the stands stood up, cheering for the European football missionary. Every single touch with the ball has driven the Galaxy fans to the ecstasy.

But even if the man of the day did not save the poor team from defeat, he definitely put a smile on football fan faces. The world's best sport is finally becoming the world's most famous. Smile
